My Velveteen Rabbit happens to be a stuffed animal shaped like a lamb. He was unbelievably cute with a comically angry expression on his face when I rescued from a thrift store as a prop for a photoshoot. He’s stayed with me now 20 years. I always thought he was angry by the fact he was too cute. Now he is not cute but quite dingy. To others he may look like a dirty stuffed animal but to me he looks like a well worn companion. The sculpture lies flat with corked back.

Love is an investment that goes beyond ease and aesthetics. These sculptures are people’s “Velveteen Rabbit.”
“Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.” – The Velveteen Rabbit
